The PAS Information Office

Press Activities The Information Section coordinates the Embassy's principal contacts with the Chinese and foreign media based in China. The Section regularly issues press releases on U.S. government policy, on key addresses by U.S. government officials and on events with a bilateral impact. In addition, the Information Section provides releases on developments in the areas of international trade, foreign affairs, science and technology, and the environment. The Information Section also produces a media guide for use by visiting American journalists and U.S. government officials, which describes the Chinese media climate and significant local media organizations. The Embassy Spokesman heads the Information Section.

Publications PAS distributes publications on such major issues as trade, democracy, the media, human rights, the environment and American society and culture. In addition, the PAS Book Translation Program works with Chinese publishing houses to translate and publish books by American authors in these key subject areas. Over 150 titles have been published or are currently in production.
